Disorders and diseases that affect the nervous system
There are several diseases and health conditions that can interfere with the nervous system. There are a number of tests and procedures to diagnose conditions involving the nervous system. Aside from MRIs and CT scans, an electroencephalogram (EEG) is often used to record the brain's continuous electrical activity by attaching electrodes to the scalp. Positron emission tomography (PET) is a procedure that measures the metabolic activity of cells. A spinal tap places a needle into the spinal canal to drain a small amount of cerebrospinal fluid that is tested for infection or other abnormalities.
Paralysis: A condition where one or more of your muscle completely loses the ability to function. Paralysis can be localized or generalized, and sometimes follows a pattern. Most paralysis cases are caused by the nervous system, like when the spinal cord malfunctions or slows down. A way some people become paralyzed is by injuring their spinal cord, like sport injuries, car accidents and tumors. It is easy to identify if you have paralysis because you will immediately lose the feeling of your spinal cord or the muscle where paralysis is taking place. Paralysis will eventually effect other parts of your body. For example, the spinal cord connects with the brain, and if the spinal cord stops working, many of your brain's signals will not be able to reach their destinations. This is how paralysis can affect your nervous system and will eventually affect other systems. This can be prevented by being careful in dangerous situations and not put to much of a load on your back.
Cerebral Palsy: A disorder that is non progressive. It affects the way your cerebrum works and since the cerebrum is a major part of your brain, the way the nerves react will also be different. Therefore, your entire body reaction and processes will be slowed down. This usually takes place right after or before birth. Any infectious disease or birth injury can cause this symptom. Cerebral Palsy also leads to other mental conditions, such as ADHD and depression. There is no cure for this disorder currently, but proper sanitation can always help. Also, any pregnant women should look after her on health because if she doesn't, her child can possibly catch Cerebral Palsy.
Motor Neuron Disease: A progressive disease that causes middle ages people to feel weakness in their muscles. The nerves passing through the spinal cord intended to go to different muscle groups will lose energy along the way and the muscles will not function properly. This disease often develops in the stem of the brain and usually passes down the spinal cord after. The conspiratorial fivers are removed when this disease is prevalent. This disease is usually inherited.
Sciatica: A common disease that causes extremely harmful damage to the nerve roots and sometimes the entire nerve itself. This slows down the nerve's ability to transfer information throughout the body. It is caused by deterioration of the vertebral disc, located on your Spinal Cord. This condition will spread laterally and to the lumbar region of the spinal cord. The effects will arise suddenly, causing an awkward, twisting motion in your muscle and joints. There is going to be pain in the thigh as well as weakness and numbness. The back will will stiff and you won't be able to sit up very easily.
Parkinson Disease: This disease is associated with aging and affects the basal ganglia of the brain, which is a major downside to the quality of how the nerves function. This disease can be caused by quick aging, and can be prevented by exercising and maintaining youthfulness. This can also be caused by a deficiency of neurotransmitter dopamine. There would be several random movements throughout your body if you have the kind of Parkinson Disease that affects your nerves. Another common symptom is tremor, which affects your hand movements and would restrict from doing things like writing and holding a cup. Your body would feel like it's unmovable and it's about to "explode".
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis: A condition where you experience extreme fatigue. It lasts for as long as six months. If you expose your body to any physical action, your condition will become worse. In this process, the nerves move very slowly, explaining why you feel fatigued. This disorder can not be resolved one night of rest. The worst part about this disorder is that the cause is entirely unknown. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis has many effects including muscle pain or weakness, poor coordination, joint pain, very sore throat, painful lymph nodes, inability to concentrate and depression.
Multiple Sclerosis: A chronic disease of the nervous system which mainly affects middle The course of this illness usually involves recurrent relapses followed by remission. The myelin sheaths around your brain are damaged if you have this disease, sometimes causing your body not to send signals at all. It is still unknown how the nerve damage itself takes place. Multiple Sclerosis effects your brain sometimes and your spinal cord other times. Therefore, there are many different symptoms and they are scattered throughout the body. Some include shaky and unstable movement of your limbs, a lot of unintentional movement with your eyes (which can cause a visual problem), loss of ability to pronounce words and inability to move muscles at all. People with multiple sclerosis can not express their feelings and opinions due to their broad restrictions. This is by far the deadliest Nervous System Disorder.
